network;

[ steve had gotten the letter - delivered right to the home he's been staying in with eddie by another local of the primary settlement. the young boy had laughed, feeling proud, and rushed off again before steve could so much as thank him. holding the letter feels...not weird, exactly, but almost normal. it reminds him of the letters he'd left in nancy's locker, things he'd spent an embarrassing amount of time on without there being much of anything to show for it. what's different this time around is the fact his name is on this one, in a style of handwriting he hadn't recognized at the time until he'd finished reading and seen the name signed neatly down at the bottom.

he'd planned on going; that was a decision that was made pretty much before he'd finished reading the letter. but he hadn't seen anything about rsvping, though if his mother were here he knows that excuse wouldn't have held up. and maybe he should have said something, or at least sent back another note. it might have saved louis the extra energy. ]
Louis- I'm glad you made it out too. I wasn't sure near the end there, since I was kind of out of it.

I do plan on coming. It'd be nice to see everyone without the pit to deal with. Thanks for the invite.

Was alcohol really outlawed in your world thing?
[ so here's the thing - usually, when steve is sending these little...mind message things, he's not usually so formal. but between the letter and now louis' general way of communicating, steve kind of feels like he should? like it's only fair.

and what was one of those letter-writing tips he learned back in middle school? always be sure that you ask a question, or a little bit about the other person to help them have something to respond to? anyway.

he's trying. ]
